As I write this "Wild Injuns" by the Neville Brothers is playing on the radio......must be a sign.
First.....following up on a post concerning copper coins found in pine duff, below are two coins found with the X50+6" HF DD last week. I had no idea what they were till this evening when I partially cleaned them, but suspected they were wheaties. The pine/evergreen needles can be seen stuck to one coin, and the other shows the corrosion that allows the sand to bind to the coin like concrete. The coins turned out to be 1911 & 1917 wheaties.

After I received the 10.5 MF DD I decided to just take it out and check it out on a maiden voyage using the X70. That trip resulted in a 1902 Indian Head that was next to a piece of iron. Because of the coil pattern it could only be detected from one direction. One thing I did discover(always nice to learn something new) is that by using Prospecting Mode with IM at 5 helped separate this coin from the iron. Usually I just kick it into Prospecting All Metal for pinpointing. But by moving the coil slowly, an iron vs non-iron target could be discerned as the IM engaged & released with the opposite direction coil movement.
This week I decided to just go and do some noodling in the trash with the X50+6" HF DD as I decided to just make it a relaxed hunt, as I had a cold and was a bit under the weather. The little coil didn't disappoint recovering 1915 & 1918 wheaties plus a 1906 Indian Head. After an hour or so I decided to use the X70 with the 10.5 MF DD for about half an hour. I managed a 1958 wheatie and 1903 Indian Head. What are the chances 1902 Indian last week & 1903 Indian this week? Maybe a 1904 next week?
Also in the pic below some "old school" lead sinkers and a real good reason to always wear gloves while detecting!
