There has been a book I've been wanting to get and is out of publication. Tried many places to find one - even an old beat up one if need be. No where was one to be found.

While everyone else was celebrating the new year - shooting off their guns and fireworks I was browsing eBay and what to my wondering eye did appear but the book that I have been looking for.

Been looking for Wallace Chandler's book "Shallow Water Detecting with the Fisher 1280-x".

I got it for under $13 including shipping and handling. And - its NEW!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D5847229420%26fvi%3D1&item=5847229420&rd=1

Add to that it really didn't cost me a penny. A friend of the family - for Christmas - had given me 2 gift certificates - total value - $15.00.

God has already blessed me and the year just got started.

2 reasons why I wanted this book. First of course is I own a Fisher 1280-x. The 2nd is that Wallace Chandler lived in Lansing, MI where I am at. I met him one time but never had a chance to meet him again as shortly afterwards he passed away. If you look through some of Charles Garrett's books you will see Wallace Chandler and the amazing amount of things he had found - with his Fisher 1280-x.

God is GREAT!!!! do I hear an Amen?

While I agree that God is great and you got a better deal on ebay, I did a search and found one on Abebooks.com for 19.95. I always look for any used books I want on Abe. I don't want a copy of this book so if anyone else wants it, go to Abe.

Geez, I sound like a shill for Abe. I'm not, I just like the site.

I have a few "wants" (read: search parameters) saved on abe. Whenever some used book dealer registers a book "for sale" on the system that meets my search parameters, I get this nice little email saying so. Of course, atlases dating from 1870 or so rarely sell for less than $500, and I don't have that kind of money. But, sometimes I do get a nice hit.

Seems like things just work out...Although many years ago remember giving one of these books away as I already had one..Indeed the 1280 has been a heck of a water machine for years,,,,
