I am wanting to get my dad a new coil for Xmas but dont really know what will be best for him, We live in Mississippi and our ground is not very mineralized and we are wanting more depth.... Can anyone HELP!!!... Thanks so much!! :detecting:

The DD coils works best in very mineralized ground, I think the Super 12" is the way to go. What detector is this for?

The DFX 300 comes with the 12" coil unless someone switched coils on you.

Ours came with a 9 inch... i might be wrong whats the model down from the DFX 300... it might not be a 300 but i know its a DFX

The only difference between the DFX and the DFX 300 is the 12" coil on the 300 and the 300 on the side of the control box. The standard DFX came with the 950 coil.

I HAVE THE DFX AND I HAVE THE SUPER 12 AND THE D2 . I LIVE IN IND. AND I LIKE THE D2 THE BEST.:twodetecting::cheers:

Hello everyone! I haven't used the excelorator 10 inch DD but I did use the 5 inch excelerator on my DFX. Pure JUNK! I compared to the 4x6 and it wasn't even close, almost twice the depth with the 4x6. I had one dealer tell me that the materials in the excellorater coil cost around seven dollars, so I had to see for myself so I cut my 5 inch coil in half and guess what? All there was is an uncased wire glued to the plastic, no foam casing around the wires, nothing but the plastic housing and some wire glued directly to the bottom of the casing. Perhaps their new coils are made to a higher quality but mine wasn't. I'm sticking with factory Whites coils from now on! I would never recomend an Excellorater coil for whites detectors, stick with whites, made in the U.S.A. !

I don't know about when your Excelorator coil was made, but I am very pleased with mine. I have the 10" that I use on my M6 and am super pleased with it. It is deeper than my 6x9 Whites DD (which it should be, not putting down Whites). I purchased mine about 18 months ago and was pleasantly surprised by the quality when I received it. It finds small items real deep, Half Reale's, Cuff Buttons , Seated Half Dime (just to name a few) all fairly deep. I didn't take a ruler out and measure, but all were in the 6 to 8 inch range. It is also not to bad in the trash , I use mine almost exclusively even when hunting school playgrounds.

I went ahead and got the super 12 last week and going to give it to dad this weekend... We should be able to find coins deeper than what we where finding with the 9 inch that came with our DFX shouldn't we?

You will see a lot deeper results with the 12" spyder coil from whites. It can be a little difficult in trashy areas because of the size, but overall it is a great deep shooting coil! I'm sure your dad will be thrilled with it!

Merry Christmas and HH!

Mike
