glass and lead

Visited Virginia Beach (VB) for a long weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. She likes to look for glass and fossils while I hunt metal. We were around 20th street in VB and the beach was giving up a fair number of coins and a lone silver ring in our first outing, but almost nothing of interest to my wife. As it was not my birthday, we looked for other near by possibilities. Next day we tried Sandbridge beach. We each found a few targets but not much. Third outing was to Lynnhaven beach and it was an interesting day. Couple dollars in change, just under 5 lbs of lead and enough glass and assorted things for wife to say she wouldn't mind living there.

Good assortment of finds.

Ha!:cry: "As it was not my birthday, we looked for other nearby possibilities"...:sadwalk: got you solid 5X5 here on that one brother!...
Great frosted glass! My Wife (of 35+yrs) built a lamp out out that kind of beach frosted glass and shells and whatnot....sort of looks like your girl can find a fossil or glass or an arrowhead or a sharks tooth on a gravel bar in no time...thats a good skill...sounds like you two had a great time together! :clapping::please:

Some Great treasure TVR...I seen your wifes scoop when she was at Sandy Point, you should post a picture of it...very cool.

Thanks all.

Mud,
Wife is wondering, if you and your wife wouldn't mind, if you have a picture of the lamp? And yes we had a great weekend.

OBN,
Picture attached. A search on "Sand Dipper" will find more information on the light weight surface scoop she uses to pick up things and move a little of the shell deposits.

And before anyone asks; no that is not my wife, or daughter, or granddaughter either; don't even know the person in the picture. Picture was copied from the web so I didn't need to go get the scoop out of the garage to take a picture.

Heres that lamp TVR...she put frosted beach glass in between the shells..the pictures dont do it justice, but you get the idea...she has jars of the stuff, like I'm sure your wife has also...I wonder if theres a market for beach glass? My wife makes all sorts of stained glass, big panels, lamps, all that...

Mudd,
Thank you for the pictures!! Wife and I both think your wife is doing beautiful work! We have some soldering irons but have not done much with mounting any of the glass yet.
There is apparently a market for sea glass. Look at this link for some thoughts on valuing the raw material, the main page of the web site has some comments on what some people think ebay has done to the market too. I suspect the art pieces made from the glass is where the real value can be found for those who market their work.
