Glad to dig clad

Figured I'd get a tally of my clad count for my first 16 days using the AT Pro.

(1) Presidential dollar coin - found inside the holder, too funny!
(13) Quarters
(40) Dimes
(33) nickels
(104) pennies

191 total clad coins = $10.94 Not bad for areas I've pounded over the years. Although 2 hunts were at places I never hit before and I came up with about 33% of the clad in the picture. HH!

I don't mind digging it one bit! I have dug up about $8,000.00 in clad in the past 20 years. The more, the better. And digging lots of clad allows you to also dig many more rings and jewelry to. I also bought several coins with only my pennies, before gold went so high. They are worth 3 x the price today.

I am also glad to dig clad...It adds up quick...If I go out with expetations of finding silver or gold every time, I know I am just gonna be dissapointed...

HH,

Yep, I like variety, so I hit the parks and fill up the coin jars for a bit, then off to a ghost town or historic area. Like Gopher says, no expectations, just try to enjoy the day and delight in whatever turns up. That's what I love about this hobby - 'ya just never know what you may find in the oddest spots. And you sure learn lot about where you live! The nurse who did my heart scan this morning turns out to be a prospector - does ok with his dry washer, turned me on to some new sites where there was a lot of military / indian action in the 1800s - can't wait to check it out!

I honestly dont know how much I've found over the years. One year I found about $400.00 but that was a heavy hunt year. Lost interest in record keeping and never really bothered keeping track after that. I spend it as fast as I get it lol! Great job and I like the idea of buying coins with pennies. Smart investment buying the gold when it was cheap. I really wish I kept all my gold years ago, but times were rough. I remember buying common date mercury dimes back in '02 for $0.40 each. I had hundreds of them... wish I had them now!!!!!!! :rage:

I agree, I have really no expectations of finding silver / gold every hunt at my pounded park. I'm just happy to dig clad. At least I know I'm paying myself back for the money I spent on the macvhine. The silver and gold is a bonus in my eyes! :)

This hobby is the best, I consider it a passion more than anything. With all the stress we go thru in life on a day to day basis, job, bills, family etc, its nice to get out and just forget about all the worries in life and enjoy the outdoors, fresh air and perhaps finding a sweet keeper. Its really the only hobby I know of that pays for itself and then some. Good luck on the new sites and I hope ya score the motherload :) HH

I had another good score today, too - decided to take the new coil out for a spin after doing doctor stuff in the a.m. - thought I'd re-check the curb strips around the 'closed while rebuilding' park where I found the barber half. Just pulled a few 50's to '70s coins. Some of the men working on the park were hanging out at the end of the day. I finally got up the courage to ask if I could MD in the park while they work and got a YES !!! The foreman said 'you'll probably find a lot of pipe and stuff - this was a mobile home park before it was a park'. Well, everywhere I hunt in this town is like hitting a landfill anyhow, and my biggest fear was that they'll put down weed cloth & chips, making the oldies off limits. And that means lots of human activity. So that's where I'll be next week

The best thing about this hobby is I have a great reason to wake up early and get out at the crack of dawn.
The world is beautiful early in the
Morning. I rarely find a ring or silver, but I have a great time looking.
I have never sold a ring or anything. I did cash in about $400.00 my first
Year of detecting. It is something new every time I go out.
