Wanted to go someplace to MD but it was getting late so I decided to detect in the back yard. House was built in 1963 so I always hope to find some silver that was lost before people began hoarding it. But then again, I seem to forget that there was an old farm here before the house.... evidenced by the harness buckle. Also found a blade from a hay sickle and a harrow blade, which got me thinking old. My Deus got a good signal and reading of 92. Dug down...aw maybe four inches and saw the edge of this pretty white silver. Was getting dark but I could pretty much make out that it was a merc dime. The date is 1940. Going to be hunting the yard tomorrow if it doesn't rain early.

Added the same pic of the merc, hoping it comes out better, but also, the 1965 has a hole in it. Prob somebody's birth date. '65 is right after they stopped making silver so that date is encouraging as well.

Sometimes you don't have to go far to get the goodies, pplinker! Nice merc! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!

If using your cell phone, try turning off the flash prior to taking the picture. Just use the room light. The camera will adjust for the proper settings for the picture better than using the flash.

Hey Tony, blurry pictures again...huh? Don't use a cell phone except a little trac phone hubby insists I carry sometimes. Pictures were taken with regular camera but the flash was on. Thanks for the tip, will make sure it is off next time.

Congrats on the silver!
