Giving credit where credit is due

I have been lurking on this forum since I purchased my X-70 with 3 coins and extra goodies from one of your members in May, 2009. His name escapes me but he was a regular and as I recall recovered over 200 silvers over the 2008 season. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to used my X-70 until January 28 of this year. Between January 28 and February 10, I recovered 610 clad coins from 2 of our trash ridden parks but only 10 nickels. I was puzzled and turned once again to the forum and came across Diggers post of August 8, 2007. I went to the park yesterday and because of the huge amount of trash, the signals nearly drove me crazy. I returned today and tried his suggestions again and after about an hour, I began to learn the sounds. I recovered 57 clad coins, no big deal but I also recovered (1) .925 silver earring, (1) .925 ring and (1) 22" 14 kt heavy gold chain and 14 kt gold pendant. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly give Digger credit for the finds and express my sincere gratitude to him and the other members of this forum who unselfishly give of their time and experience to help the inexperienced and experienced alike. You are what makes this hobby great and I TIP MY HAT to you all but in this instance, just a little more to Digger. Whether I continue to post on the forum remains to be seen but I think you all are a class act and I thank you for allowing me the opportunity to express my feelings. I included photos of the gold and silver finds so hopefully I did it right.[attachment 152991 CIMG2542Small.JPG][attachment 152992 DCP_0339Small.JPG]

Looks to have been a good outing or two.

I appreciate the kind words. And thanks for showing us the pics. This forum is a wonderful place for X-Terra users to share their thoughts and ideas. Knowing that you were able to learn from the opinions expressed here is very rewarding. I'm glad you stuck with it and were able to pull some excellent pieces from that trashy environment. For reasons that remain unclear to me, I get an occasional PM with some pretty negative comments. But results like yours reinforce that this information is being used in a positive manner. So again, thanks for sharing pics of your finds and the kind words. HH Randy

I'm not sure which one he is talking about either. But when I did a search of my previous posts and scrolled back to August 08, 2007, I found one entitled "Ever wonder what your missing?" Considering he was referencing some jewelry he had recently found, I'd guess that is the post he was talking about. If so, there is a link to it near the bottom of the posts listed in the FAQFAQ section. HH Randy

This is a good topic because it reminds me of the fact that I FOUND this forum because of my quest in search of information related to the Xterra. I started out looking for an upgrade to my Scorpion and ACE250 with one detector that would fill both roles and do a better job at each. I wanted a 70 so bad I couldn't stand it. I read the FAQFAQ so many times that when I finally could pull it all together, that's exactly what I bought-well, a 705 by that time. So I too have to tip my hat to Digger, Barnacle Bill and others who have contributed so much to not only this forum, but also to the success of this series of detectors. I don't think I'm exaggerating by saying that, because every time somebody asks me about my detector and how hard it was to learn, etc., I point them HERE! :yo:

I'm sorry I did not specify which post of Digger's I was referring to but it was the post entitled, "Ever wonder what your missing", which was posted on the date indicated.
