Hey all, spent some quality time with the 250 today and learned some interesting stuff.
i too am having strange issues with the pinpoint and while its annoying im not sure entirely that its a bad detector, i too am leaning to the coil as the problem, if indeed it is a problem. im really thinking its just the coil design.
i think the coil is taking too big a picture of the soil, and stuff in it when you try to pinpoint it if you hit the pinpoint near the ground, also have notice if i pinpoint just as i finish my sweep over the target it seems to work better.
at one point the 250 went crazy, then i noticed my cell phone was ringing it really messed it up, after the phone call, all was back to normal.
when you pinpoint, if the target is close say like 2 to 3 inches or so, the bars will fill up fast and then you can use the hotspot at the second inner coil tip for right on pinpoints.
if the target is deep, like say some of the clad i got today, i had to fill up the bar, and the bar will fill up slow, when its full then the target was in the center of the coil, i could not use the tip of the inner circle, my dig would be off some.
im starting to believe that the ace just has a sort of different personality if you can call it that, and you just got to learn it different than what you may be use too.
also i believe that when the sniper coil comes available the 250 will come into its own, and be really really hard to beat as a heavy trash coinshooter. time will tell, and i cant wait for it to be available, i have a feeling that will end the pinpoint issues.
just my two coppers and what i learned today, course results may vary and i could be real far off base here, lol i am an amature after all.
almost all of us are having the same issues with the pinpoint, its either the coil or a design failure, i believe its the coil.
some of the pennies were deep like almost 7 inches so the 250 has good performance thats for sure. and after a while i could tell when i hit some pull tabs im starting to develop faith in the tid on it also.
sorry for the long winded post, just thought i would share some of my experiances with it today.
btw this was a very heavy hunted out area.
