Getting reaquainted with the X-70

So I had a nice park hunt with the X-70 yesterday. Found a couple dollars of clad. I had forgotten just how hard this thing bangs on coins! Had a blast digging up modern coins as I got familiar with it again. It's been a while. I have a quick question that might sound dumb but I'll ask it anyway. If I primarily hunt with ground tracking on all the time, do I ever have to ground balance again? It's saved on when I turn the unit off and it's activated when turned back on correct? If that is the case, this machine is truly awesome as I don't like to have to manually ground balance all the time. I really got spoiled with so many years using the Sovereign with it's auto ground tracking. Anyway, I remembered all the things I loved about this machine back when it first came out. The features it utilizes all work so WELL! If I compare it to the Omega 8000 I was using prior to it, there just isn't any competition when it comes to running quiet at full sensitivity. And the auto noise cancel is also far superior. No matter what setting I put the Omega on, I always had EMI interference and that was with a version 6 unit (which was supposed to have those bugs worked out). So although I haven't found anything too old yet with it, using this machine has been an absolute pleasure. My only gripe if I had to find one is the 10.5 DD 7.5Khz coil is a little nose heavy, even with the rod turned upside down for better balance. I may end up trading it for a 9" concentric 7.5 Khz or maybe even a 6" 7.5Khz concentric since I see they get pretty good depth and I would like to do some trash hunting. All in all, I fine unit for sure! HH! George Fatizzi

Hi George , Great to see your getting back with a X-70 , I really like mine . I just wanted to know that if your serious about trading that 10.5 DD for a 9" concentric I have a nice one I'd like to trade with you when you do . So let me be the first to know about when your ready and we can swap ( if you want ) just drop me a message . Other than that have a great time getting reacquainted with your X-70 and Happy Hunting ! Woodstock

I have always liked the 70's. I now have owned three of them.

It's good to have you back George! Glad that you find the Xterra as effective as I do too!
