thanks for looking

That's quite a bit for a first time out. Rivers are usually loaded with junk!!! Also all the major floods move a lot of dirt around. I lived by the Conn river before (Holyoke, MA). Tried it once. Couldn't get my machine to stop making noise. Good finds.

I must clarify that these are pics of three different hunts within this week...about 2/1/2 hours / hunt.

thanks for the reminder regarding flooding...particularly the flood of 1955 that devastated this area.

And I should have clarified that it was the Housatonic River...located a "stone's throw" from my home in Derby, Ct..Apologies

Still a good amount of finds for just under 8 hours. Who knows what the floor can deposit? Some people lost their entire houses. Any money and jewelry could have been deposited on shore. And I think there were a bunch of floods. The one in '55, I think in the 30's and another around 1890's. If anyone can remember any of the other correct dates of floods, let me know. Great potential in river hunting, but lots of work!!! Keep us posted as to what you find? Interesting way of treasure hunting. I heard of others looking for old bottles, but not many detecting.

coinnut did you ever do any hunting on mt.holyoke?,i've seen some old pictures of that area, kinda looked promising!

Didn't do Mt Holyoke. There is a summit house up there and I think if they catch you detecting they throw you off of the mountain.:stretcher: Seriously though, it would be fun. it's probably been hit already. Where you at? I'm in Hampden.
