Getting Closer but still a long way to go.

Should be ready for Spring water hunting.

Just too cool Mel. Way too cool...And I guessed right- That window was going to be for a meter. You and Old Beach Nut are the pioneers of Sovereign and Excalibur mods. Again, very impressive...

That is sharp looking great job so far !! i like the idea of knobs instead of toggle,s less worry of dirt and water getting under . Good work  Jim

What can I say! That's awesome!

I just need to find a way to retire early and go play with you guy's!

That's a fine piece of work...please keep it coming!

Mel, I can't touch that! That one is smoken Hot....!! And I love it......It would be hard for me to even think about the amount of time you have put into that masterpiece...Diffentlly looking forwards to seeing the final product...

Thanks Critter, I'm headed in a different direction now that I'm retiring in 11 weeks....Less time on the bench (And work), and more time on the water starting early next spring. Got the GPS's all waypointed, 60+ old, private beach's...........and ready..almost...still have alot of detail work on her before she sails the Jolly Rogers Flag.

Your work is impeccable; professionally done. Really beautiful. Methinks your second hobby is MD mods.... I look forward to seeing the finished product.

OldBeechNut, Lucky you with the retirement coming, and the 60+ private beaches to boat to sounds like an adventure for sure. Stuff dreams are made of.

Don't forget, now that the Sovereign is defunct, might be a nice little enjoyable hobby for people who like to tinker to start buying used Excaliburs here and there and converting them to true land/water units. Remote PP switch, waterproof meter (if the VDI voltage output is present on the board in replicated IC chips the Sovereign uses...bet it is), new shaft to balance the POD way behind the elbow, or better yet installing the electronics in a lighter POD, headphone and coil connectors, etc. I bet somebody could turn a hobby of tinkering into making a little side money here and there. Sooner or later I might just do that myself. The Excalibur L/W (Land/Water)- Combing the best of both BBS worlds into a true dual purpose land/water unit. Seems like there's a huge need for such a machine so long as the price is low enough. Kind'a like the guys who customize factory cars for more performance. I really think somebody should approach Minelab with the idea in order to get new units still under warranty to customize. Doubt they'd bite though.

I have just one word for you Mel. Professional! Well, some more really...I WANT ONE:surprised:

Yes if I decide to do it.

Let me ask another way. Will it be done using waterproof connectors, or will you have to disassemble the box to change the coil?

if I decide to go the coil changing route.
