spent a good 4 hrs today on a freshwater swimming beach getting to know my new explorer. found one ring and 50 or more coins, a dozen fishing spinners, a dozen or more lead sinkers, three million pulltabs! it was educational and a lot of fun. i now have 5 questions to pose:
1. What voltage do you read on a fully charged nimh pak? (Mine reads about 10.6 V)
2. How long can you detect on a fully charged nimh pak? (mine was going dead after 4 hr.)
3. what's with the warbling signals? i never experienced this with the sov, so i thought it meant multiple targets, but it was always a single target, be it coin or trash. it's just kinda strange & i'll have to get used to it i guess.
4. does changing to ferrous tones change the sound of nickels? i found several nickels, but they didn't give that low mellow tone i learned with the bench test.
5. finally, what about the crosshairs? i would toss a coin down to get an idea of where the crosshairs hit, and they would be stuck in one spot. i'd pick the coil up to regain threshold and check again, but nothing seemed to be consistent. they were moving all over the place or they were stuck in one spot.
well, that's it for the questions. anybody feel free to instruct me. by the way, several of my dimes and quarters were from 1965, 66 and 67! so close to silver! maybe next time... thanks & hh.
