Here is another program some of you may enjoy. Go to edit and clear the screen and save the clear screen in an S memory slot. Go to Detect and the Digital Screen then use the Menu to go to select. Now select all trash items. The screen will stay clear as the detector is already cleared to select all trash items. However, now when a target is hit the microprocessor will attempt to ID the item. Here is one area where this can be helpful. If using conductive instead of the low tone we get for iron in ferrous we get a high tone. Notice that the high tone will be identified as a Nail or Screw for Iron but a Coin for silver. If you don

Hear is another one to enjoy. Go to Select in the Menu and Clear then select all items to be accepted. Go to the Digital Screen, with Iron Mask OFF, and all detected targets will be identified. If using Iron Mask at IM-16 we don't get all target identified. That is why I duplicate Iron Mask in the Smartfind screen. Here is where Ferrous and Conductive can be heard and viewed. My large class ring has a digital reading of 8/25 and the large tab will read 7/20 in one direction of the sweep but 8/20 in the other. Notice that the ferrous reading for the ring and tab are the same or vary by one digit. The Conductive reading vary by 5 digits. If using Conductive sounds the difference is clearer than when using Ferrous. The 7/20 and 8/20 swing back and forth over the tab gives a wavering sound which is very clear in Ferrous and iron has a low tone. Iron will have a high tone in Conductive but have an ICON that identifies it correctly if we select iron in the selection menu.

All of this is part of the testing I have been doing with the Explorer for the project I am working on.

Have a great evening,

That's some pretty radical stuff. Very interesting. I wasn't really with you on reducing the number of tones, as I feel this is one of the best things about the Minelabs. But this is interesting. I may have to play with it.

It is not my intentions to suggest that anyone change their settings. I do see some post that seem to indicate needs of new users to alter some of the presets or find a little easier setting or group of settings for their needs. It is more of a "wow look at this" than anything plus my own testing and use looking for what we can do with the Explorer adjustments. Some of the "wow look at this" are not how I run the machine most of the time but are kind of interesting. I don't think we have to have mind overload as the machine can really be set to sing in just about situation. I have no idea how different users will come up with ways to use the information.

The number of tones is interesting since we pass over low tones then have to dig up all the others if they are solid. I don't see the value of a high and higher tones if I am going to dig all the ones other than low, if solid, anyhow. I might as well just have two or three tones and not worry about how high they are. I guess it is like seeing what is in a box before we open it but still have to open the box. I began to realize the only box I did not open were the ones that had a low tone or the others that were not solid. Someone that comes down to A or B which is only two tones. However, I do use three to make it a litte more interesting. Ha ha
