How many (like me) out there recently received a new :minelab: CTX3030 and can`t use it, because it is frozen outside. Warm here today (60) , but only 1" of mud on top of who knows how much frozen. I played with it in the 2" of snow (before it melted) looking for some clad I planted, looking forward to :detecting: with it. Spring is just around the corner. :wiggle:

Give it a whirl up here

That is about 4 feet of snow. It is actually a VERY lite year. We should have snow over the roof and have to dig for the porch.

Suffice it to say, not much detecting round these parts right now.

If I had that much snow I could be snowmobiling, and get :detecting: off my mind. :rage:

Sorry to rub it in guys but it is 80 degrees today and I was actually sweating while hunting a park today. I hope it warms up for you all real soon.

4 feet of snow is the scary level while snowmobiling. Barbed wire fences are JUST under the surface :ranting: LOL. Nasty wounds.

As for the heat, I really hope we get a LOT more snow. We are in for one heck of a summer drought if we dont.

This is Wyoming, where the saying is "Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighti'n". Won't be able to detect because all of the good land will be on fire and we'll have to truck water up.

That said, some of my better finds have been after forest fires. You can access stuff better without the brush and see old foot paths and game trails very clearly.

Here in Wisc we have over 25,000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails (no barbed wire), and the groomers will pack and flatten 4 feet of snow into a super highway.

Oh wow. That is nice. Very nice.

Our county is about 6K square miles of just "go wherever you want". Every year a few folks hit fences just under the surface.

Groomed trails would eliminate that.

Oh well, soon enough it will be 100degrees again LOL

Yeah...escaped work for second half of today. It's been in the 50's today...rain. Was hoping to go out to a pounded park and start finding all the silver the other knuckleheads couldn't find with their machines. 4 clad pennies, a bunch o trash and very wet was all I got. Ground is frozen solid after the first 1" or so. Will get one more shot at it tomorrow before temps drop below 30F FOREVER. Ugh. So far, I'm totally THAT GUY. Really expensive CTX3030 arm candy who ain't found $h!t so far! Sigh. Back to the drawing board. Maybe GH's combined 2 may not be where it's at for a really trashy park that's been beat to death. Maybe I'm swinging too fast. Maybe I need the 6" coil. Maybe I should just shut up and spend more hours MD-ing like everyone else on here has done but doesn't seem to mention to us poor newbies...

Boo-frickety-hoo!

:bouncy:
