hi guys
new here have a question for you guys
sometimes I get a iffy signal some times it there sometimes not its not often I cant get it to repeat most of the time the depth is 6+ inches is there some setting I can use to try to make it smoother its like the target just disappears,
so its a bit of a bugger to know where to dig most of the time I just walk away because I cant find it again but I know there is something there.
cheers bob
by the way I,m in Australia

one reason the target disappears is that if you are using tracking on ground balance and you keep going over the target the tracking starts eliminating it as it thinks that it is something to ground balance out. if that is the case switch to manual ground balance and go over the target and see how that works. i use tracking most of the time but i have to switch sometimes for this reason...

Bob,
The way I handle those iffy targets, is to switch to pinpoint mode. (Set pinpoint to 'Sizing', and turn on the pinpoint lock feature so you can basically hunt in a non-motion mode.)
You'll get infinitely more audio information about the target size and shape, and if you also turn on pinpoint target trace, it will slowly try to 'paint' your deep target on the screen.

It's also a great way to see targets that are close to each other...the screen will slowly 'paint' in two different spots.

HH,
mike
