Germany

Hello,

I am new to detecting and was curious if anyone currently or has dectected in Germany. I have an older Fisher metal detector and have researched the laws to detecting here. I am a U.S. Soldier Stationed in Heidelberg. I am itching to get started. I have tried to look up sites for Roman Battles, but my German is scetchy at best. I am trying to learn the language and the hobby. Any Help will be appreciated.

Thank You,

Louis

There are references somewhere in these forums that discuss Germany. Seems like I read you can detect but you can not dig. I am just a rookie though, and don't always have the best memory. Something like if you dig it is archology and you need special permits, and come to think of it you needed a permit to swing the MD also.

It may not have germany but a neighboring country. Someone made a post a handfull of weeks ago to this extent.

If it was me I would talk to locals and find a club. That is what I would do if I was not in my native suroundings. Find a hobby shop or detector shop. I have seen that some have made some Way Old finds in the old country.

HH and don't go to jail.

I think I can help maybe. I know another guy that is stationed over there and detects alot. I will send him your info.

God bless.

Glad you found us. I will be glad to help but I'm going to be on the road for a while and may not be able to get on here for a few weeks. I've used Fisher detectors since 1984. You are in a great area for some really good finds. I do know that the more you hunt the more you find and the better you get to know your detector. Good luck over there.

Welcome to the Forum, Louis! Pete in MI might know something about your hunting overseas, as he was over there sometime in the past! I have never been across the ocean, nor haven't hunted in too many areas in the USA, so no help from me...but I hope you keep posting and let us know what you find! And don't get into trouble....know the laws and abide by them! Other detectorists and MD'ing clubs would be a great help! May God bless you with many goodies! Ma Betty
