Germany Navy Button

Found this button back in December. It is a German naval transportation company. After more research I learned that this company had the contract with the union army to transport there mail to keep it out of confederate hands. This button wound up in a field in Louisiana, I guess the guy who it belonged to decided to make louisiana his home. I wonder if there are anymore out there? Only one I have seen...thanks for looking!! HH

Yea I know kinda cool. It was nice to be able to link it to the civil war. Never knew the union had to do this with there mail especially with a German company. Although they did also import weapons from Suhl Germany early on in the war.
