German gold pin

Found a few years back detecting a little town park...any ideas?

It might not be German......Is it 14K? Any markings?

This is just a wild guess, I believe it is pre 1930 handmade jewelry. I forgot how pretty it was since you found it that day we were hunting together.

From Wiki: Swastika

It remains widely used in Indian religions, specifically in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, primarily as a tantric symbol that invokes Lakshmi - the Hindu goddess of wealth, prosperity and auspiciousness.

Hi Larry we tested it ....was a little shy of 14k...there are no markings at all.

I found a brooch very similar to yours in a 1907 Out West Magazine, Volume 27. Its supposed to be 16K solid gold with a turquoise December birth stone. I'm seeing the same ad in other period magazines. Here's a link to the ad.

Looks pretty close Daryl...I think your right on! Thanks! I might have been wrong on the 14k it has been a few years back...neat to see it was only 3 bucks in 1907.

Although the Swastika now has a bad reputation because of the Third Reich, it has been a symbol for years before that with far less sinister roots. Like the Confederate flag, it is forever tarnished because how one group of people used it as a symbol for their hate filled group. Although now we would never wear a piece of jewelry with a Swastika, at one time it would have been common with no negative implications or even party affiliation.

Wow, that turquoise really pops...beautiful piece!

Looks to be SW Native American. The Swastika or similar design was common. As it's indian in nature and bejewled, it might not be wrong to wear it as jewelry as it's so obvious as to it's intent.

German swastika pointed to the right as most, including the good luck swastika. There were many that pointed to the left but most pointed to the right including this oddity........

Common Indian ornamental jewlery symbol.
