George Washington Inaugural Button

Luck is a factor. I was hunting a well hunted Civil War site a few years ago on and extremely hot day, and decided to act like I had some sense and quit for the day. I decided to keep swinging my coil on the way out. By the way, I was using a Garrett GTI 2500, but I don't think that matters as this button was only a couple of inches deep. It goes to show that and inch is as good as a mile. It is hard to tell how many people have walked within inches of this button while swinging their coil; myself included. I didn't know what I had until I was washing it off when I got home. Even in this condition, it was valued at around $550 when I first found it. So never give up thinking you may make a great find some day.

I just can't believe anyone with half a mind would take such items to them and be ripped off.. Again, a very very nice find.

Congrats on the button! I'd have to think that's a once in a lifetime find. I wanted to Google a pic of one to see all the detail, hope you don't mind my adding it for those (like myself) who'd never seen one.

I've often asked myself if I'd found something similar (worth several hundred dollars, or more) if I'd sell it. I think I would, and re-invest it into more gear
