George Washington and the Turtle Radar Run

I'm sure most of you folks have a 'Turtle Radar', all hunters do in some regard...You know when you are driving, you are on the lookout for anything in the road, specifically turtles, but it applies to other things in the road, like nails, or metal or anything else that might damage a tire, or be of some value, or deer jumping out atcha, or whatnot, ...So this past weekend, I'm running the beach route at pre-sun-up, and notice an object in the road ahead of me, flat and non-descript..it had been driven over multiple times and the zipper was broken, so I guess not all people have a Turtle radar..?.[attachment 297231 wallet14.jpg]

The Wife has contacted this person to inform them they do not have to worry, their stuff is safe, and please call back to let us know where to send their belongings? To the address on the license, or somewhere else?...No reply as of yet...

Anyway, later in the day I was at a spot, I looked waaaay down the beach and saw a blowout where the sand was peeled off right up to the dune grass...so I hike on down there and started hitting signals in sort of a mild cut at the base of that blowout, one wheat penny, another, some seriously deep and discolored clad, old scrap then BAM! A shiney 43 washington! I figure the silver got washed out of the dune, or it would have been sort of gray if it had spent anytime in the water...[attachment 297232 quarter.jpg]

I had to run the Pro on a hotter sens, nearly full on, as the cut had sort of filled in and I seemed to be able to only work a 4'wide stretch, in knee deep Lake Michigan water, and hear deeper pings, with no TID...got nickels, P's and more Q's...but only the one silver..deep targets too...like at least a foot down in the sand...I guess this sport has a great appeal on account it gets a guy out hunting...and every once in a while a fellow finds and saves a turtle!.[attachment 297233 may2turtle.jpg] who couldnt love a face like this?:lmfao:
Mud.

Doubles from the turtle watch. Outstanding! Actual one and the small purse. Hot damn, my hats off to ya. :beers: Good terrain observation paid off nicely with that silver quarter. HH jim tn

Sweet shiny Washington Mud!!:clapping: I agree, Turtle Radar, never leave home without it!! Man, I love the patterns on those fellows. Some of the young ones around here have a smattering of orange mixed in with the yellow (or GOLD:biggrin:), and it's really cool how they blend with the fallen leaves.

Nice! I too found a wallet with id a couple of weeks ago. Got ahold of the girls father, as had been married since the wallet was lost. I gave him my phone number, and have yet to hear from her? On the plus side, it had about $^.00 in change.

I am still looking for that turtle though, as they are fast in Edmonton.

Cool post. Good Karma brought the silver quarter perhaps ?

Nothing slips by you Mud. Nice going on the silver!

A turtle surface right in front of my face Friday and I don't know who was more startled and delighted at the same time, him/her or me.
WTG on the 1943 quarter, it looks great. I found a 1952 quarter Friday with a dark patina on it.

That is one shiny silver quarter Mud! Good job saving the turtle. I suppose the inner message for all of us is to slow down and observe our surroundings.
