Geodehunter and Myself at the fairgrounds

Robbie and I had an enjoyable afternoon with our Etrac's. We first hit an old school that never gave up much!
We was there 2-3 hours with one wheat penny to show for our time there....I decided that I would take Robbie
to an Old Fairgrounds that I found a week or so back while doing some research....It was his first time there
and I only had one wheatback that I found a week back....We must have been there around an hour when I
Heard through my headphones Robbie Calling me to come over to show me what he found...I could tell by his voice
and smile that it must be good......I walked over there to see a Robbies first silver quarter,a 1934 Washington..
While I was running off the head a little, Congratulating him while he was filling the whole he dug...
He got up scanned the SEF 6x8 across the plug and still got another target....Yep! Another silver 1947 washington
in the same whole...I don't know who was more excited! Me from watching or Robbie from finding! We had a great
day and I definitely had some catching up to do as I was 50 cents down with no coin in my bag yet.. I ended up
digging up three quarters. Two clad and one 1895 Barber. Robbie finished out the day with a third Silver, a 1913
barber dime....Those Barbers we dug were well over 8+...Needless to say we will have to go back again!!
Congrats "My Friend" on crossing out a few more off the Bucket List!!

A real nice day in the field - congrats on the great finds !

Thanks Guy's
It was a fun day! I'm going to go out for a little while today, and do a grid pattern to make sure we never missed anything..

Congratulations to both of you. Great job nailing those oldies. Thanks for the story and the picture.

good stuff there!!! Been real wet out here lately including today so good luck today on your hunt! I'll be watching the games......nice and dry and warm...lol

Yesterday was a great day of detecting. Being out with one of your great friends makes all the difference in the world. The silvers that we both found were icing on the cake. I can't wait for our next hunt.

Thank you "My Friend" It was a Fantastic Day of hunting and fellowship!

Had a couple hours to spend at the Fairgrounds Today...Took some string to lay a grid
out to look for something Geodehunter and I might have missed yesterday....We must have
thinned the silver out yesterday as there was none for me today and Geodehunter had other
plans....So The old "Silver Hound" was unable to show me where it is.....LOL!
Did find three little indians, 1895,1902,1907 with a 1919 wheatback in the mix..Also! found
a thimble labled "Drink Blairs Root Beer"....
Can't figure why the 1895 Indian had a full liberty and the others were wore! The Fairgrounds
date in the 20's-30's.....

I knew I should of hit some of the Fairgrounds when I lived down there,,,, Congrat's on the nice silvers and IH's

There's still plenty of time Mark! It's a big place....If you need the location just P.M. me and

When I started hunting back in 84, I hunted with and man named Dave Stover...He's Been gone now for ten years,
but I remember him telling me about hunting the old Fairgrounds in Burlington Iowa. He said he found a dresser drawer
full of Silver coins valued around several thousand dollars at that time....Walmart built there first store there...I was 22 Y.O. then and Dave
was in his mid 40's

Great finds guys! And it's so much fun to share a day out detecting with a good friend!

Yea it is Dave! Thanks, Duggr

Yea, I talked to a few ppl that Mded it when they were doing the dirt work for the new Walmart. They said you could not believe all the silver coins they found after they scraped a lil dirt off the top that had the modern trash that was masking the old coins below. I didn't move down there until 2000 so I missed out on the fun, lol, but I had a ball when they demo'ed the Manor. Nothing real old but I found a lot of half dollars, silver quarters, Merc's, rosies, Buffs and war nickels, that was fun...

I just seen this. Congrats on the Indians and your other finds. :clapping: That place will still have a few more gems waiting to be found. One thing that Duggr and I seen was a buck and 2 does out in the field with us. It was a great time.
