General Use Waterproof Detector??

CIRCLEHOOK

New member
I am looking to purchase a general use waterproof detector that I don't have to worry about getting caught in the rain.
I am considering the Garrett AT Pro, but would consider other brands.
Does White's have anything like this. (No PI unit, please).
Thanks.

Sponsors of the forum like Detector Pro have the Wader.
I have the BHID a Whites water detector which has
led lights to indicate ferrous and non ferrous ID of items in the
water. Very good as its has the same setup as the DFX
When I first had it I would go and practise in the soccer fields
and found a nice gold mans wedding band.
Learned what the led lights were telling me by digging the targets.
Pinpointing is a little tricky but learn it on dry land and that will
be a benefit in chest deep water.

CIRCLEHOOK, I have a Garrett AT-Pro Love it, Its Light i can hunt all day, Me and my hunting buddy he has a AT-Pro also are going to Hunt the water,
I dont take mine under water maby some times, But he is???? The first bunch wear water Leakers but i think thear fixed now,
It Excells in junkie spots on land or in water, Best of Luck too you , Mickfin

I have a White's Surfmaster II VLF that Keith Southern modified and it is a hot detector. I am really loving this detector. Hits over good targets are so smooth and goes very deep. To bad White's quite making it. It's just a simple detector based of the Classic 2 and yet when modified is awesome. I wish I had listened to Monte a long time ago. It's probably hard to find one though.

A metal detector is the device which respond to the metal that may not be radially apparent. the simplest form of the metal detector consist of a oscillators producing and alternating current that passes through a coil producing an alternating magnetic field.

When the AT Pro came out, I purchased it and sold it.

Then, I didn't realize how amazing the detector was. I didn't
give it a fair chance,

Second time around I went for the AT Gold because I wanted
the higher frequency and I can still use the AT Gold in fresh
water.

Alot of good videos on the Garrett company site.

Atpro or the tiger shark , I have both and love them !

More than happy with my AT-Pro. Used it on land and in both fresh and salt water!

The AT pro is hard to beat. Good all around machine. Stay away from the salt water though .

Don't know why so many say to stay away from salt water with the AT-Pro. Set up right it runs fine. Here's my last salt water hunt:

Looks like a pretty good four hour haul wading in salt water to me?

I'm not the biggest Garrett fan (besides the Pro Pointer, of course) but have to admit they've done a great job with the AT Pro. A water/land machine that is light enough and has a full function LCD screen so that it's just as comfortable on land as in the water. Since I hunt fresh water, I plan to pick one up down the road for deeper water hunting and also as my backup machine for use on land when I'm in the mood to swing faster. The GT is designed to easily chest mount the box and so you can wade up to your belly button water hunting (when waves aren't bad of course), but for those heavy wave days or for going into deeper water I think the AT Pro will do nicely. The price alone makes it a killer land/water dual purpose machine, combined with the low weight and such. I hear some guys are also pleased with finding silver with it in heavy trash or iron on land too.

Another option is the Tesoro Tiger Shark. No VDI or tone alerts so that limits it's use on land, but I owned one and dug a few mercs with it in parks. I like how it's built and for just water hunting seems like a fine machine.

AT Pro/Gold will give you the best price/performance ratio...for a waterproof unit. The Pro goes a bit deeper on coins than the Gold. But the AT Gold is more sensitive to small gold. Either one would be my recommendation.
