general question re sov control box

ojm bc

New member
Would anyone know if sov elite/sov gt have same coil wiring, are they interchangeable. Are they same machine?
I like this model very much, though it's useless for clad, but looking for vintage only, and would like a spare control box and
have one for a backup... I think you would also agree the more you stay with one detector the more your able to understand the
sometimes subtle tones.
Yesterday this detector was right on picking 4 nickels in a row, could of been gold or scrap but was very happy with it.

thanks oj/bc

All Sovereigns have the ability to swap coils and meters. The Elite and Gt also can swap battery packs and mount the same. I have them both. I also like the Elite. My wife who will beach hunt with me on occasion likes it too. It has a few less switches for her to deal with and still packs a punch. I put the 8 inch Tornado on it for easy pinpointing and off she goes. Between my hunting buddy who has had two older models and myself, I see no big difference in the ability of the Sovereigns. I also find the 180 meter to be one of the most accurate I have ever used on a detector. When it says 148 it is a Nickle on mine. No doubts about it. Of course Canadian Coins need their own meter numbers. But once you figure out the ID number the meter comes in very handy.
