General improvement question

Any idea as to what the "general improvements to the user" are or is this specifically for the 800? I sent an email to Minelab asking the same...no reply yet. Thanks

smoother general operation?

Hmmm... don't know! Mine seemed to run smooth enough even without the update. Oh well, no worries, just thought I'd ask.

Did ML mean "general improvements to the user [interface]"? I haven't noticed anyone talking about finding changes to the user interface but believe ML did fix a bug or two there.

That could be. I don't plan to do any beach hunting but that could change! Hopefully with the "coin on edge" update, I hope it applies to relics being on edge...buckles, breastplates, ID tags, or any brass that are "on edge". Let me know how the Equinox does when you take it out for a relic hunt.

Better depth reading and coin on edge..

Depth meters are just what they are........... a huge guess mostly based on size of the target. I dont think ive ever really paid attention to it....... i knew it was there but just dont use it like a dirt hunter would. Hopefully it gets rid of some of the grimlins so we dont have to keep doing the reset.

I saw that on the Minelab update page...but there is a third... General Updates..."General improvements to the user". Maybe they were just referring to coins on edge and depth meter? Wish they could have elaborated a little more. But like I said...no worries...just curious... enquiring minds want to know!

we'd call those third items general fixes and cleanup. In other words, if we detailed everything that is fixed in an update, alot of it would be gobblygook to most ppl or would be too deep or low level to make sense unless you knew the code. All this detail would be considered too much "noise" for most users and tech support doesn't care too much for this sort of noise...been there, done that. Imagine trying to explain a detailed software fix list to a non-technical consumer...especially if it is several pages long. :) I am personally just happy that Minelab is trying to fix/tweak the Equinox software by producing update(s).

Also, I was wondering if the coil got updated as well. "The EQUINOX coil must be connected to perform the update." appears to indicate that this may be the case. I still think some of the internal tweaks are paving way for the bigger coil. That way the new coil will work out of the box.
