general health question

I have noticed that in my small circle of detector Friends 3 of them have gotten prostrate cancer. My question is could there be any connection with using a metal detector with a hip or belt mount, having the unit that close to your body for extended period of time.just wandered what other people's thoughts are on this subject.

Prostrate cancer takes a long time to develop.
I don't think that detectors would have any Bering on it.
As men get older after breast cancer for women ,cancer of the prostate is the second up from it.
There's a good chance 1 in 2 of us will develop it as we age .. It is also genetic meaning if it runs in the family good chances of developing it.
I know older men who have had it a long time and likely will die of heart attack before the cancer do them in.
If caught early its very treatable so annual check up very important.

Do know there was a direct cause of some prostate cancer in motorcycle law enforcement from the radar guns. It was evident in young officers. That was quite awhile ago but they'd stuff the radar gun in their crotch to keep any signals from leaking out and hitting a radar detector before they locked on to a paricular car. A radar gun is putting out massive energy compared to a detector. Those problems with the radar guns have been overcome electronically so there is no need to risk injury for stealth.

But the biggest connection is your ages. Most men will develop problems with their prostrate. Activity such as bicycle riding for long periods definitely will make a difference. Diet is the biggest factor, just like women, if your diet is poor and are smoking with alcohol intake, this will affect your health and major glands are the first to be affected (mammary in women and prostrate in men). Diet heavy in tomatoes and watermelon will make a difference for men, these foods are rich in lycopene http://www.lycopene.org/ which help shrink the size of the prostrate. Also doctors put a lot of fear into men with enlarged prostrates, they lead them to believe that they have cancer when only they have an enlargement due to the aging process. Proper testing (which is painful) can only confirm the cancer cells.
