Gearrett GTI 2500 and NEL colis

Plug popper

Hi and let me start off by saying glad to be back in the swing of things :detecting: It has been a long dry spell for me. The wife and I got to talking here a while back and decided to buy us new detectors and get back into the hobby. That being said we did just that. I have always been a Garrett fan and have always used them. They have the best service and stand behind there Detectors. I bought the GTI 2500 and for the wife the AT Pro. So far so good! I used a GTI 1500 that was a friends and really liked It . Yes there are lighter Detectors out there but with the 2500 I don't have to swing like I am chopping weeds, Not that you need to swing the Pro that fast but you have to swing it at a good pace to get the get better depth out of it. It is the way it is made. On the other hand the wife love's her AT Pro, so to each his or her on. Here is what I am asking has anyone had a chance to use any of the after market coils such as the NEL Hunter or the Tornado for the GTI 2500 ? ' or any other coils for the GTI 2500. I have the 9.5 and the 12,5 as well as the 5x10 scorcher. I have done some study on the NEL'S but wanted to here first hand . I thank you for taking the time to read my post. :beers:

I would be interested in hearing about after market coils for the GTI Series. So far, the results have been very good for the AT Series.

I just purchased the 2500 and haven't had a chance to try it out yet, any advice to a new 2500 user? I have used the whites coinmaster GT and the minelabs xterra 30 up until now.

Hi and welcome! Congrats on the new GTI 2500. First and foremost spend some time with it, learn what its telling you. I would go out in your yard or to a park put it in discriminate coins mode and work it slowly. Listen to the different tones HI's and low's check every target with the GTI and watch what its telling you. if you hit a target and it with a nice bell tone on both sides see what the GTI say's, if it reads 25 cents and shows it on the GTI and says its 4" deep and shows on the B lines its most likely a quarter. Now that being said, one make sure you have it dead center of the coil. Here a quick way you can check it let of the pinpoint swing back over the target but this time start raising the coil up of the target if at 10 to 12 " you are still getting a hard hit hold it there and hit the pinpoint again it will show you it is a pop can. for the most part the GTI works real good on coin size targets. dimes and copper pennies show about the same on the GTI. this is what I mean by learn what its telling you. I can tell you with a Garrett or as you most likely know you are going to dig some junk targets until you learn what its telling you. Here is another way you can hunt with it got to the all metal mode when you hit a target see what the GTI saying then hit you last mode button and check it in the discarnate mode if it checks out dig it. also make sure you check it both ways. The all metal mode go's deep on these 2500's.The best advice I can give is take you time make notes it wont be long you will have that GTI down to a T. And one more piece of advice fill all your holes take out the trash and leave it better than you found it,,,, and always get permission! There are a lot of ways to hunt with the GTI try all the modes and see what works best for you and where you hunt. I do hope this helps you.
