GBSE (aka 29er) Superior or an Urban Legend?

I occassionally come across posts by folks who own a GBSE who claim that these hard-to-find machines are hotter units than the standard GB's and G2's and are, therefore, better at finding deep silver and relics. Is there any truth to these claims or is the claimed superiority of the "29'er" just an urban legend?

I own a 29'r and love it as I know there is a difference
in the audio (modulated) as compared to the other
models I believe. This unit has the Silver Fix which
some of the 29'rs got called back due to low
sensitivity on high conductives. I don't have
that problem as my machine was sent in and
was re-tuned or what-ever it was they did. I bought
it from a dealer who had the fix done. After machine arrived I verified the Fix.
Have never used another model to know the difference but I always heard
the 29'rs were a better machine so I bought one to have as my gold machine.Good Luck on your research of this unit!!!

Its in the program, Look around at prior posts. I think the first version of the software, 2.9 ran hotter Higher sensitivity- more tuned for low conducters rather than both. Depth lacked on coins.
Its no legend. I have the upgrade 4.0. I think if you hold in the pinpoint button as you turn it on it tells you the software version. I can tell you this My Gold bug is awesome, If I had to own only one machine this be it. I would say the MXT but its such a heavy beast. Buy a new one it has a 5 year warrenty. I will never sell mine, this is the only machine I have felt this way about. I detect a lot and own other units- but they don't get much use anymore. Only thing it needs is back light and water tight housing then it be perfect. The new F19 has a backlight. Its seems like gold bug on steroids.
