GBP/G2 At the Beach

Most of the threads on this forum talk about how great these two detectors are for nugget and relic hunting. However, I haven't seen much discussion about how these two might perform at the beach (particularly on the dry sand). I use my GBP almost exclusively for hunting the dry sand at the beach and it's far and away the best detector I've ever used for this purpose! I'd be interested in hearing about your beach hunting experiences (including tips and techniques) with either or both of these detectors.

I have tried mine once for about 2 hours in the dry sand at the beach. Worked so well finding pull tabs, I felt like smacking everyone I see on the beach drinking out of cans! :detecting: :pulltab::ranting: I have only had mine for a couple of weeks, but I think it's going to take a while to sort this thing out. Mine seems to ground balance at 0 - 3 at Sunset Beach, NC sands.

I'd chime in but seeing as how we hunt together sometimes, you already know that I agree with you 100%.

I'm going to Fl for some beach detecting with my CZ20 the last of this month and wasn't even considering taking my GB DP, but I will now. I'll post how it goes. My Ultimate 13 should be here by then also.

I hunt the dry sand with my GBP and the 5x10 dd and feel very good about its performance. I have wanted a U13 for some time, maybe someday... I pull a lot of bottle caps and bobbie pins, but I dig virtually everything by choice. I almost always know what it is before I recover it. I usually run no disc and full sens so I see and hear everything. It is a sweet swing after several hours with the Explorer or an Excal I use in the wet or water.

The GBP is a fantastic performer in the dry sand. Keep in mind, the ratio of tabs to gold is very high. Dig it all.
The gold will come.
