GB pro and rings

I have observed something interesting about gold rings and my GB pro. I always carry a white gold ring and my wedding band when I go out detecting. I was at the lake the other day and did some testing. I put the rings in a hole about 6" down and tested. I got tids from high 30s to mid 80s. The signals were strong but erratic. Silver and coins tend to stay within a few numbers of each other. But the rings were hard to id. On the surface the rings would hit solid within a few numbers. At depth gold rings sound exactly like pull tabs. NIckles are the same as rings at depth. The GBP hits hard on gold and nickle but doesnt id well. I always dig tabs any way, but no cherry picking for gold with the GB pro.

I was thinking about this and the ground is pretty hot at the lake where I hunt. 82 on the meter. I wonder if that is what makes the TID erratic?

Do you get a high or a low tone response on gold rings when running the machine in discrimination mode?
