GB ... I dont get it ...

Why ... if the fixed Ground Balance detectors all have an internal adjustment pot for setting the "fixed" GB ... then why dont Tesoro just put that control on the face of the detector?

If they are worried that people dont want or know how to set the GB for maximum performance they could just mark a preset position on it.

I just do not see that saving a buck or two by not having a face mounted control makes any sense considering that good GB is important to peak detector performance.

Hi Wilee,

I believe its a cost issue along with an ease of use issue also. I dont think they are worried about people adjusting the internal pot, they probably had to put that there for themselves to adjust the GB before selling the unit.

Cost, over an extended production run, would be considerable to add an external GB control to the internal adjustment which would still be necessary for initial tuning of the rf circuits.

There is no 'perfect' preset position. Something must be given up, one way or the other.

Of course !
GB is very important... if you have bad ground.
Most places do not have bad ground..

Tesoro really does have a well-thought spread in their detector line-up.

I've been to at least a couple places where I could not detect, even with an adjustable GB.
(Well, I tried, but found nothing.)
