GB,AUTOTRAC

hey guys i was wondering where you run the gb,in auto?also does anyone run the gb offset in positive range?i run it about 2,also how about threshold in auto?or manual? thanks all help is a app.

first off, the threshold does not have automatic functionality. It is set manually. Set yours so that the threshold is just barely audible when the coil is over an open area (without any metal under it). The idea is to have it so you can hear any subtle change to that threshold. Setting it too high might cause you to not hear a faint change in sound. (target audio or blanking) Setting it too low (silent search) might cause you to not hear a deep target that is unable to produce a sound "loud enough" to overcome that silence. And remember, the speaker and headphone thresholds are set separately, same as volume.

As to autotracking, I set my X705 with an offset of 3. Does it work for me? I haven't decided yet. Frankly, changing a GB of 3 (on a scale of 90) doesn't really make much of an impact. The soil could change that much in a foot or two of sweeping. But I figure by setting it a bit positive, I'm fooling the 705 into thinking the ground is more mineralized than it actually is. Thus, in my head, it runs a bit "hotter". JMHO HH Randy
