gatlinburg sites

I am going to Gatlinburg TN in April and will be taking my detectors. I have a Cibola, a Troy X5, and a Surfmaster PI pro. I also bought some gold pans. My main interest while in TN is to hunt gold but am up for any type of metal detecting. Does anyone know of any hot spots for gold detecting or any other cool sites? Thanks.
 
My understanding is that you are not under any circumstance to have any detector inside the park at any time. I am not sure about Gatlinburg, but most of the waters that surround it, weave into and out of the park. There are some public areas surrounding Pigeon Forge, including some sports fields, soccer or football, but I am not sure if they are open for dectecting or not??? You might want to contact their chamber of commerce to see what they can tell you?
