I am going to Gasparilla island Florida In July for a mini vacation. I am taking my Anchor Electronics Barracuda PI units (2 units) with the 8 and 12 inch coil. Any tips about searching this island. I have never been there. Is there is any other beach I should visit around that area please let me know!!! If I find no gold I will have my 14ft fishing rod with me to fish.
Thanks

Nice quiet area of Fla,south of Tampa Bay ....waters are nice and clear...you might hope for a TD to stir up the sands before you get there...not as populated with the mega hotels,so not as many people to area.HH bob.oz

Not a good place to hunt, stay away from south end of island,it's known for it's big sharks and now we are in our Tiger shark season ( it runs from May thru Sept.I live 30 miles from there and won't go there ,only once and never again!!!!!!!!!

Have fun! Bring me a t- shirt back!!!!!! JJ, tigerhank68

Lots of history there, used to be my old hangout while growing up, did lots of Tarpon fishing there and they will still be running while you are there.
did lots of SCUBA diving around the old phosphate dock and oil dock. Current will be swift, be careful.
Whatever you do you will have fun. Just don't expect to see lots of people.

Less people the better for me.
Thanks for the info
Frank
