I would hate to be the one to dig a mine out. Looks like the guy running the machine already lost part of his left arm. :yikes:

There are so many live land mines still buried that no one will ever dig them all up. They are in the millions!

Here's some facts about landmines and as read on you really see how they affect the whole picture.

It is estimated that more than 110 million active mines are scattered in 68 countries with an equal number stockpiled around the world waiting to be planted.

Every month over 2,000 people are killed or maimed by mine explosions. Most of the casualties are civilians who are killed or injured after hostilities have ended.

For every mine cleared, 20 are laid. In 1994, approximately 100,000 were removed, while an additional 2 million were planted.

Anti-personnel mines are priced at $3 to $30 each. The cost to the international community of neutralizing them ranges from $300 to $1000.

The cost to remove all 110 million active mines is estimated at approximately $33 billion. Many experts believe that under current conditions it would take more than 1,100 years to clear the entire world of mines

That's some scary info there King G. Looks like there's more mines in the ground than penny's!

That's why I said you'll never get them all and they really do do a lot damage in the long haul ion more ways than one when you look at the info I posted. Lot of innocent people get hurt, maimed or outright killed from them every year.

All the people on these forums together could volunteer there help detecting these and clear them up faster:detecting::surprised:

Or perhaps we could get all the terrorists in custody to walk over known land mine sites. They may not have planted them but it would sort out two problems at once.

I turn my discrimination to foil and it notches out landmines

I think its the Danish who have modified thale cress so that it reacts to the leakage from the mine over time. Within three weeks the cress changes colour to red above the mine. Two delivery systems for the seeds. Either shoot out over the area to be checked or scatter from the air.

Drawback is that it attracts animals to the area and they get blown up.

Anybody got a manual to the Garrett Recon Pro AML 1000 ? I just bought one and have the quick start manual. It just didn't come with the full size manual. Thanks in advance if you can post on here or PM me the manual!
