I use an exploror II and a Teknetics Mark 1. I am thinking of getting a Garrett. Would appreciate any input, pro's or con's comparison etc.
Thanks

Rght off the bat Garrett models are lighter and better ergonomic design..with more efficient and easy to set notch systems...

I am thinking of one of the higher end models. I have been looking at a GTP 1350 I believe is the model

I bought a 1350 about 3 weeks ago and wouldn't trade it for anything

I'm also an Explorer user and prefer to stick with just one type of detector. The Garrett is quite different and I found switching back and forth made it very tough to keep my ears tuned. I tried a Nautilus and Tejon recently but came to the same conclusion, I just like the sounds I'm used to and that's it. I do have many hours on a 1500 so if you have any questions about it compared to your Ex2 just shoot and I'll make an attempt to answer them.

I do think the GTI, Nautilus IIba, and Tejon are all kicka$$ detctors in the right hands, but won't be my hands.

If you are going to hunt coins ....and I mean lots of coins, go with the 1500. It will find them deep too. Will size objects larger then coins, so you can leave a lot of the junk in the ground where it belongs. Also, a great machine for hunting manicured lawns, as the pinpoiting is right on! Easy for probing and making small holes. You don't need one of those swingy-thingy-wingy attachments to make the machine lighter. Also, you can get many different types of coils to tailor your specific needs. But....no detector does it all. It's your decision. Good luck with whatever machine you pick!
