garrett warranty work??

I was out hunting for about 4 hours today, and out of the blue, my Pro Pointer started acting up. It sounds like a sick duck and the vibration thingee is all messed up. I even tried replacing the battery.
I had it less than a year. Anyone every have any warranty work or send anything back to Garrett? What did you do to contact them or whatever?
thanks!

OK... you all will laugh at this one. I just FIXED my Pro Pointer! apparently there is a small piece of round foam in the battery compartment cap that keeps the battery snug up against the contact points. I found it when I was taking the battery out of the Pro Pointer to put it in the box to ship back. The round piece of foam was loose in the battery compartment. So the battery was not making contact with the points all the time and the 'sick duck' sound was actually the battery rattling around when it vobrated since it was not snug.

go ahead and laugh at me now

Good you found it in time... for me to look for mine - I just got a brand spanking new PP and didn't see any foam in the battery compartment.

If you go to Garrett's web site they have a form you can fill out and send it back. Their customer service is top notch. I just bought a used AT Pro and the coil had a dent in it from being banged up against something. It looked like there was a crack or a crease in the dent. I had called them to transfer the warranty and I asked the guy if I could send them the coil to check it somehow to see if it was still waterproof. I explained to the guy it was used and it was user error if it was cracked. He told me to send it in and they would send me a brand new one. They received the coil last Friday and this Tuesday morning I called and they had already sent out a new one. To me that says a lot about a company.

I accidently got my pro pointer wet and it started making those "wounded duck" noises and the vibration was gone. Called Garretts customer service and they told me to send it back to be checked. After I talked to them I located the receipt and found that I was six weeks past the warrenty date. anyhow, I sent it back and 10 days later it returned, good an new and no mention of any charges. these guys are top notch when it comes to service.

How wet did you get it? Other then the speaker hole the thing is waterproof. I hold my thumb over the hole and run it under my outside water spicket to clean it of. I saw on one of Garretts videos from their company that this is the best way to clean it.

Hia flyin-lowe, I was working the bank of a stream. in and out of shallow water and I was careful to keep the speaker holes above water, but I think that handling it with wet hands got enough in there to do it in....unless I unknowingly dipped it too low anyhow, that's my story and I'm stinking to it.
