Garrett upgrades of the GTI and the future

Just an observation but Garrett seems to be in need of an upgrade to the GIT2500 or release new model to keep up with the Jones's.
Do you know if the 2500 has been improved in the last 2 years. I know they have tweaked it some several years ago.
Also what about Garrett's coils. When was the last time they have been improved and does anyone see a difference in the GTI's performance with the black coils vs. the original white?

Thank you!

Funny. I just asked the same about when they come out with a new model maybe trying to beat their own 250. I know nothing about other brands but I would never buy anything else but a Garrett. And this was my first detector.

The coils have been improved (black one) and is more stable than the old white one, like when bumping it on weeds and rocks. The other improvement is a new mineralization chip that makes it MUCH more stable in hot ground. Makes it better for prospecting and is more sensitive to tiny items....0.3 - 0.1 gram size.

Other than that it is the same as it was when it came out. It is still a badass machine.

I too am curious what Garrett will do to top it.
I have a hunch....maybe it will be like a sonogram image to actually see what the item to be dug looks like. That is my wish, If anyone can do it Garrett can.

True Imageing there....GTD 3000 or GTV 3000. Graphic Target Display or Graphic Target Viewing. HAHA , just fantasizing, you never know though!

The new mineral chip has been added plus the PROformance coil which is a big improvement over the Scorcher. So they haven't exactly been dragging their feet.

[quote Uncle Willy]How about a 3-D image of the target. The Army has a mine detector that will do that.

Pay the price that the Army does for toilet seats and hammers and we could have a detector like that too...:yikes:

Just shuffling them a bit eh Bill.
Sorry. Couldn't resist that one.
Must confess that I've got the 1500 a few days back. I'll get around to posting details on this forum tomorrow with pictures.

I am sure they have ideas but they also have to produce a cost effective unit that normal people can buy, especially on a troubling economy.
