I'll admit that I have never given Garrett detectors any attention. I really don't know why other than just plain old prejudice because I didn't like the angles or colors on the higher end Garrett machines. Plus, no one I know uses Garrett detectors except for a few who use the Infinium, maybe the others aren't very good in our ground... I don't know but in any case... now I am looking. All the hubbub over the AT-Pro has gotten my attention.
Lately I have had an interest in trying an older T/R Disc detector. Then I was reading through the TIPS section over on Monte's site and he mentioned that the Scorpion is one the only if not the only current production model with a true progressive T/R Disc mode... which, if I understand it correctly is better for tuning out iron or crowncaps without still having to deal with iron falses. I am interested, I have a couple of sites where it might work very well if it will do what I want.
The price looks good on the Scorpion too.
Now tell me the truth... (and I know it is hard for the Garrett loyal to admit to any weakness of a Garrett machine)... ok, just kidding... a little. What are the weaknesses of the Scorpion? What are the strengths? I mostly be hunt relics and some coins in medium to medium/high mineralization. Mostly CW relics, some early 20th century lawns and parks too... maybe a couple of weeks a year I get to the beach.
I am pretty well convinced that I need to try an AT-Pro too... can't have too many detectors!
Why would I want a Scorpion over an AT? Why would I want a Scorpion over an AT? Forget the waterproof part, that isn't an issue in this decision. I just want toknow more about the Scorpion.. why you like it, why you don't like it. Why you like the AT better or the Scorpion better. Do you ever use the T/R Disc mode??? When and why? Do you like the T/R disc on the Scorpion?
I probably don't know the correct questions to ask so clue me in. I will be reading through the forum and watching videos.
Thanks!!
