I have a gtax1000 and have used Garrett for many years. Due to healt, I havent hunted for a long time. My question is will coils that I have from my older ADS 7 Garrett work on my GTA?
 
No they won't. The ADS machines operated at at a different frequency, and the connectors will be different. Even if you rewired the coil to the 1000, all the readings would be off considerably. I actually tried an ADS coil on a GTA 500 machine....it signalled on a target, however was very unstable and the readings were way out of sync. You can buy coils at the factory for the 1000 I believe.
 
i under stand the crossfire coils and the cross fire 11 are the same except for the connector.call garrett and ask mary.
 
Yes, The Crossfire I coils from the CX seties will work on the 1000.

Sorry to hear about your health. Hope you feel better soon. It's true what they say about helath. You can't truly appreciate it until you do with out good health for a while.
I had one of those GTA 1000 and they are a grate machine. The eliptical head is vary hard to get used to. Try shooting with the nose of the coil. The deeper stuff will show farhter back on the coil
