Garrett Service- Five Star as usual!

I'm sure the guys at Garrett cringe when they see a box from me. I knocked a deep gouge in the face of my AT Pro (again) and finally decided to send it back to Garrett to have the front lens replaced and for a general tune-up. I shipped my machine through USPS, and today I had a package from UPS on the porch when I got home. 7 days from the time I shipped it to it being on my porch, they replaced the screen, replaced a PC board, checked the whole thing, and shipped it back to me. Total cost to me? Zero... not a dime. This is the 5th time I have sent stuff in to them for repair that was clearly from misuse or even just plain stupidity, and I have always been amazed at the customer service. Hats off to Garrett!!

I had a similar experience with Garrett. I bought a used AT Pro from a guy for $300.00. He bought it to find a lost wedding band, and had no other use for it. Anyway he had let his kids use it and there was a dent in the coil where it was banged against something and it had a crease in it that looked like it could be cracked. I called them and explained that it was user error and asked them if there was a way I could test it to see if it was still waterproof without ruining it. The guy said why do you want to test it, just send it back and we will replace it. I said "I didn't think it would be covered since it was obvious user error". He said our stuff is warranted against cracks, and yours is cracked, so send it back. I got my new coil about a week later. A+

I need to send mine in soon, I also put a ding in my screen while pulling my lesche out of its sheath and swinging it around, not remembering I just laid the AT pro down next to me...upset me, but things happen. Mine also has some other issues . Just trying to hold out a few more weeks til Im done using it for the season.

I'll add another voice to the choir.

After almost a year and a half of use, the control box to my ATP broke off a couple weeks ago when I laid the detector on the ground sideways as I always do. Actually broke the the plastic where the screws go in to attach the box to the rod.

Just got it back today. They replaced the control box, the sponge grip and the arm cuff - all under warranty. 12 days turnaround time and I figure about 6 of that was in transit. Great service, and I've always had great service from Garrett!

I'll contrast that with another detecting manufacturer whose equipment that I had only for a few months broke on me at about the same time. When I called the owner he in so many words intimated that it was user error and that his Chinese made product wouldn't just break from normal use. I disputed that, and he told me to send in and he would see what he could do. Since I'm still awaiting the product return and am hopeful of replacement or some kind of proper (not just glued) fix, the manufacturer shall remain nameless. But I guess my point is with Garrett the customer is king and that kind of attitude just doesn't happen.
