I was thinking of getting a garret sea hunter mark ll . Ive read mixed reviews on this machine .Good Bad & ugly . Any PRO out there that can give me the real skinny on the item ?

It is a PI, so it's discrimination is not like a VLF machine. However, having only your ears to use as discrimination, the types of tones you hear (this must be learned) can give you some reasonable clues to the size and type of target you are scanning. On the plus side, works great in salt water and you will get incredible depth. People finding gold rings in water at 14" is quite common.

Hey, I just responded to coach_c with some more MKll info. Check it out

Good luck with the new machine. It's a really good one!
Happy Hunting!:)

I love mine, had it sense Xmas, and the four times i have taken it out, i have found rings that Excals. have missed! I find sewing needles at 14". keep in mine, you will get a work out with all the steel you dig.Its take a little getting use to if you have always used a V L F detector, even a little frustrating if the beech has lots of steel. I have not been able to tell the differences in sounds except on wire objects and bobby pins, maybe because i have dug up so many.LOL my only complaint is the shaft, it feels like it 's going to snap in haft in the water when the waves come in and out. so I'm going to get the Andersons straight shaft for it. Hope any of this helps! happy hunting!:detecting:

I absolutely love my SH it's a simple underrated detector, I hip mount mine also metal head said all that can be said about ,,and it's a killer relic machine in the fields !

No it is a single tone , but it takes awhile to get learn the machine , PI machines are a totally different animal than a VLF , it just takes times getting use to it !
