garrett question:confused:

Seems like cannot get an answer on garrett forum:clsoedeyes:Was wondering Is the garrett 7 x the same as the ads 7 or is it the same unit???Thank you.cjm

The Master Hunter 7X was an improved and updated ADS 7. Equipped with bigger 8.5" Crossfire coil, surface mount technology circuitry and slightly higher frequency of 6 khz. The 7X was made from 1990-1991. Sold through Kellyco, but also was included in the Garrett line up as shown in the Garrett brochures as the dates mentioned. This circuit board is of a 7X. SMT is definitely used as there aren't any color banded resistors and the cb is smartly populated.

So,later on if I decide on a deeper coil which one would you advise the crossfire 8.5 " or the 12.5" crossfire?Does garrett make a D.D.coil for this model?Thank you cjm.

For a bigger coil,I'd go with the 12.5" Crossfire. Garrett did make 2 white Crossfire elliptical coils in the early 1990s. A 3" X 7" and 5" X 10". These are getting hard to find.
There was a big DD coil available once. The Power DD 10" X 14" coil. This coil was made back in l999-2001 or so. I have one,but not going to give it away. It got very good depth on my CX III. Here is what it looks like.
