Garrett ProPointer speaker volume mod...

Probably voided my warranty but I thought I needed to tone down the speaker a little.

I plugged the two speaker slits with some small rubber strips and painted them over with a dash of flourescent green paint. Now I have good vibration with about half the volume.

Here's a pic. Sorry about the pic quality...I still haven't quite gotten down how to operate my digital camera.

Charles, good job of Mcgivering. Question - were the strips glued in? Mine's being shipped now, and am thinking of doing something similar, thanks for the tip.

Slap a pice of tape over the holes. I used yellow elecrical tape. Keeps the water out and tamed it enough that it's not offensive.

Thanks for the kudos. No...the strips were a bit oversized to make them secure when they were pushed into the speaker slits. The green paint then sealed the outer side. This way...if I ever wanted to remove the strips I can just pry them out.

I put a piece of black electrical tape over the speaker hole and it works great and doesn't look funky.

The mod that I would really like is an independent power switch for the LED light :)

If you haven't done so, you need to read "the penny trick" It's over on metal detecting forum at apologies offered, page one. It's awesome.
