Garrett ProPointer Question

Hey all!

My ProPointer has been buzzing lately on it's own after I probe a target sometimes.
I will probe the hole and then it sometimes starts rattling buzzing audio. If I lift it back and hold it in the air away from the metal it still is going off.
I have to turn it on and off to stop the noise.
Then it works fine again for a while.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've had the same problem, and changing the battery doesn't help.
I'm on my second Pro Pointer, and the first one did the same thing after using it a few times.
It's a great pin pointer, but I think they need to work out some glitches.

Yup, mine does that too once in a while. You turn it off, and then back on and it's fine. Whats the problem?

Mine does that every once in a while even when the battery is fresh. It stops every time after I turn it on and off tho, so no problems. However, I do wish Garrett would work out the glitches the PP has had since the beginning of production.

ive also had this issue, but it was due to mineralized soil being stuck to the probe end, once i wiped it off the errant chiming ceased.

My problem is it wouldn't turn on right a way

I had the same problem yesterday (one week after putting in new batteries). I was at a new spot and there were overhead wires. I was thinking that it was picking up some interference from the wires.

I have the same issue. Drives me crazy as you can get signals where nothing is in the ground. Sent it back to Garrett for repair and all they did was clean it up and make it look good. I have gotten to the point where i will only use the Propointer where my Pistol Probe has already identified the area of the target.

Fresh batteries don't help, off/on helps for a short time, tapping the side of the propointer sometimes helps.

While the Propointer is great for identifying side wall targets and exact locations (when it doesn't falsing) I am disappointed with this issue. Quite aggravating to have a nuisance issue like this that is out of your control and can't be fixed.

i think i have a good one

Mine was food for the first couple months....

It is going back tomorrow for the second time. With a 2 year warranty I could be 4 or 5 returns.......good thing I have that clad to pay for the postage!
