Garrett Propointer is more sensitive to edge of coin

from the side of the barrell than at the tip of the barrell. I layed a dime on the edge of a cardboard box and moved the Propointer barrell downward close to the dime. Didn't get a buzz until the tip was 1"past the dime. Hope others will do this test to see if they get the same results. If so, then this explains all those times I kept digging past the coin and still getting a signal that I thought was something large, and deeper than I was willing to dig.

I used mine for the 1st time yesterday, and while I'm sure I'll really like it, it will take some getting used to (used a V4 prior). I use a flat-bladed screwdriver with a flat washer welded to the end as a coin-popper, and much of the time can pop the coin out in one shot. I know that doesn't really relate to your question, but the more accurate I become pinpointing with my MD, the smaller hole I need, and the less time it takes to retrieve targets....leaving more time for more finds :detecting:

I need to "test" mine the way you mentioned to get a better idea of how it operates....but it's still in the truck & I'm feelin' lazy. :sleepy: Will let you know when I do though. You might try de-tuning it also.
