Garrett Propointer battery question:poke:

Anyone know what the black Eveready battery is, shipped with Propointers? I checked it with a D.C. Digital Multimeter, it read out about 9.9 volts, no load. (New Copper Tops are around 9.5 volts.) Thats about a 1/2 volt difference, and a small performance change. I swear the volume and apparent sensitivity were a trifle different. Anyone else encounter this? I could be just that particular battery, but.....! Good quality 9 Volt Lithiums are around 13 bucks :yikes: You could pull a Radio Flyer full of Copper Tops that. If these are some commercial cheap battery they might be cool to have. Any data out there?

6 AAAA cells at 1.7v ea. can theoretically be 10.2 ..... so 9.9 isn't impossible or necessarily a special battery but it is suprising that it made it to you in that condition.

Thanks John(tx) Have you figured out if you get the 30 hours listed on the box with the Alkys? I got my PP ready to ship to Garrett when the will call shows up or I'd verify, but I'm sure it was a Eveready. Let's see, how far are you from Conroe? Is Long John still alive?

My Garrett came with the same energizer that's in there right now. I've had it about 6 months, checked the voltage today and it's 9.2 volts at present. I'm pretty sure I have atleast 30 hours on it. I'm 40 miles south of Houston so that should put me about 70 or so from Conroe. HH John
