Garrett Pro Pointer or Vibraprobe 580

Which of these 2 pinpointers will pick up just say a quarter the best? I'm trying to decide on which pinpointer to get to use with the Omega 8000.

Mike

I think you would be really happy with the Garrett Pro Pointer. I have never used the Vibra Probe so I can't compare the two.

I have the 580 and have been very happy with it's performance, it is very easy to use and will find stuff that I can't see in some dark dirt or mulch and is able to reach 2 inches. Haven't tried a pro pointer yet, no one I hunt with has one, yet.

Glad to hear from somebody that's using one. I used to have a 560 and really liked it until somebody stole it out of my truck. I'm going to order a 580 today or tomorrow. I'll have the 8000 tomorrow so I need to get a pinpointer. I'm also gonna have to get headphones too. I've got some now but not really made for detecting.

Mike

Hey WKYDIGGER, I had a Vibraprobe 580 for awhile. It is a good pinpointer and is able to detect 2 inches or better. But like you, I also needed a pair of headphones. I opted for a DetectrPro Uniprobe, and boy was I glad that I did. It will pinpoint at 3 or 4 inches, and you get a quality pair of headphones to boot. I really like this combo with my 8000. Check out Edmund's Scientific. They have them on sale now for $245. Just my 2 cents.

A friend just got a vibraprobe from kellyco and it's depth was not nearly as good as his propointer. really shocked because being a PI i would have expected the vibraprobe to go real deep. it looked like it was getting about an inch to an inch and a half. We tested it in his house. Any chance the auto adjust is tuning it down due to interference and it will go deeper in the field? he loves his propointer as i love mine but he wanted a waterproof unit for some water hunting. he'll always use the propointer on land. Also, the vibraprobes vibration is not as good as the propointer.

On land or dry sand Garrett Pro Pointer.
On ocean wet sand beach and water Vibraprobe.

I've actually decided to go with the Garrett Pro Pointer. I've got the Teknetics Omega 8000. Killer B's headphones are on the way. So now I just need to get a pinpointer and I'm good to go. We are supposed to have a nice weekend coming up. Can't wait.

You won't be disappointed with the Garrett. Check out the youtube video showing the "trick" to getting more depth, it works....I used it many times last season.

Good luck.....let us know how that Omega works for you!!

Well I have a Garrett Pro Pointer on the way. Gonna try and hunt a couple of ghost towns here this weekend if this stupid snow ever stops coming.
