Garrett Pro Pointer or Automax V4 Pinpointer

I am looking at a possible Garrett AT Pro package from Kellyco Metal Detectors. The package is offering a free Automax V4 Pinpointer ($140 value) for free with the purchase of the AT Pro. Has anyone used this pinpointer? Is it as good as the popular Garrett Pro Pointer? Thanks for your input..

I've been using a V2 since I got my Ace 250.. Does what it's supposed to do.. I've never
used a propointer, so couldn't give a comparison.
But.. I know if I were getting a free automax with a machine, I would not bother buying another
one until the automax broke. I actually like mine. The only drawback is the shape, size , etc..
You don't want to sit on one, drop it hard, etc.. But like I say, as far as pinpointing, it's always
done what I need it to do. And it's lasted 7 years now, according to my updated forum stats.. lol..
Sheesh.. Time flies as fast as my artificial Boeing 737's..

The Pro-Pointer is much better. Better range and you can de-tune it to find smaller objects. I've use a few of the Automax ones. My Pro-Pointer is the one I use!

I was out today...would not be without that Pro Pointer with me. South of Boston and ground was still hard but weather was warm and windy. Found time to get away from fridge.for a few hours. A few bucks in change and a necklace was all. Don't care...love the sport!

I have owned both, kept the Pro-pointer and sold the V4. The V4 works. But, it is bulky and does not work as good or is as well built as the Pro-pointer. If you go with the V-4 you should do the mod that makes it more sensitive.

Built Tough!
No Tuning
Audio lets you know how close the target is
Can be detuned for better target sensitivity
Made in USA

Looks like I'll be going with the Pro Pointer in addition to that package! Thanks everyone for your immediate feedback..

If you get it close to your target, but still can't find it - while it's beeping, shut it off and turn it back on without moving it. It will now only respond if it's right on the target. Great for small objects.

I have not used the Garrett Propointer. I have owned an Automax V4 and it didn't sound off until I was actually TOUCHING the target, and that was with fresh batteries.

$140.00 "value?" Huge joke!

Maybe it was just my sample but that's my personal experience with it.

I gave it away.

Gsrrett pro pointer hands down. Had mine for 3 years, not one problem. I hunt everyday

Don't leave home without it.

I had my pro pointer in Puerto Rico. It worked fine until I tried to use in the salt water, it just steadily vibrated would not quit guess minerals in salt water. Im new at this so I may have been doing something wrong. in dry sand it worked great.
