Garrett Pro pointer /increase depth

Using the idea to increse the depth of the probe by using a coil held to the side to set bias, slide it forward to beep and back off,Holding it in position as you probe.Using some electrical nylon ties and metal slide made from brass slim stock. It seems to work good,if you dont get to rough with it.The metal slide is sized for a nice slidig fit on the tie.

Great idea.

Have you played with the size of the metal slide? I imagine that something bigger would make it even more sensitive (deep)?

holding a coin in front of the pro pointer before turning it on does the same thing, but I don't see the need to get more depth out of the pro pointer. a slow beep tells me the object is a inch or so away from the pinpointer and a solid fast beep tells me i'm right on top of the target.

I think his point is that you don't have to have a coin handy nor try to hold it in place (to keep the sensitivity high).

When I hunt parks I usually check the ground with my Pro Pointer before digging just to see if the coin is within 2 or 3 inches of the surface. And as you alluded to you can tell by the frequency of the beep. Sometimes you want to check deeper.

When you already have a hole dug and you still can't find the coin it is nice to add some depth to the Pro Pointer to see if the coin is still in the hole. I did that today actually, but had to hold the coin there. Would have been easier by far with Joe B's method.

Hi,no the size of the metal piece does not seem to increase the dept/sense.,you just have to get the smaller metal piece closer to tip to set off beeping.I just thought I would share this, maybe some one else would come with other handy methods/better.It does free up your hand, not holding something in position.Your wright ,the increase is not always needed.Regards.Joe B

You know what would help? A little video show what your talking about. The picture
you posted doesn't show me much...blurred. What do you mean "slide."

SHOW me
what your talking about.

Clearer picture, limitted to 420 kb.Movie on using coin is on u tube,Garrett pinpointer. The slide is the metal piece that you slide to beep then back off.Regards.Joe B

I'll watch the vido and try this. I tried using a coin on the side of the pro pointer but it kept slipping.

I like the idea of more depth. The dirt has been as hard as rock here because of the lack of rain ( except today. Its
raining like crazy) and the pointer seems to get max debth in lighter dirt. Compacted dirt seems to hinder it.
