Garrett PP acting up

Have a 2 year old Garrett PP. Has new batt. but sometimes after I turn it on it will beep and not stop beeping so I shut it off and turn it back on. Any ideas?
Thanks

Put it 's tip on the ground then turn it on. Kind of like ground balancing. Garrett is fast on the turn around if you send it in. Call them first. 1-800-527-4011

"so I shut it off and turn it back on"

Does that fix it? I never leave mine on continiously.

Pastor Bob, mine did that also, just sounds off for no reason. I sent it back to garrett with an explanation. they sent me a new one. I think it is a problem Garrett recognizes, and just takes care of it for their customers. They were great.

Dirt in the toolbox. Two things that I know of can cause this problem. Dirt on the circuit board creating a resistive bridge across the solder joints or your coil is bad.
Either one, just send it in.

Make sure the battery is making contact. I put a small folded up piece of paper at the base of the battery to keep a good constant contact.

Mine does that when the battery is getting low, you may want to check that new battery or get another new one.

Looks like your garrett pro pointer coil is broken. I have three garrett pro pointers with very sensitive to touch and bending tips, after long and painful disassemble my one Garrett pro pointer I found broken coil rod inside copper wire, look photo. After investigating Garrett propointer coil I can say its absolutely not made to last if you will push pro pointer with some force, so my advice-NEVER EVER try to band or dig with Garrett ProPointer you will brake the coil and pro pointer will start to work unproperly. Now I a bit skeptical about garrett pro pointers design, why Garrett designers choose so bad quality and not resistant plastic???looks like it was made from the start not to last. with better coil rod it would be unbreakable. :nopity:

Mine was acting the same way. I removed the battery cap and rubber switch cover and let it set for a few days to dry out.

I put it all back together and it's has worked great ever since.

Mine was acting quirky even though the battery was good. I put a quarter between the bottom of the battery and the cap to the battery compartment to put more pressure on the contacts and so far it's been working fine.
